A delicious "Torta Della Nonna" (Grandma's Cake) recipe
"Torta della Nonna" or "Grandma's Cake" is the kind of classic and timeless baked dessert that makes any snack really special.
Even the fact that it is named "Grandma's Cake" gives it an extra touch of sweetness and love that make it difficult for anyone to remain indifferent.
In the version, we propose here, we demonstrate how to prepare this cake in the simplest of ways and without the addition of butter.
CREAM
750ml of milk
Lemon peel
3 eggs
6 tablespoons sugar
6 tablespoons of flour
FOR SHORT CRUST PASTRY
3 eggs
150g sugar
120g of sunflower oil
1/2 oz (16g) sachet of vanilla baking powder
500g flour
TO GARNISH
40g of pine nuts
Powdered Sugar (Confectioners' sugar)
1. Begin by preparing the cream filling. Pour 750 ml of milk in a pan and add the peel from an organic untreated lemon.
2. Heat the milk in a pot on the stovetop. Meanwhile, in another pot combine three whole eggs, add six tablespoons of sugar and then six tablespoons of sifted flour.
3. Mix well until the mixture is free of lumps and then pour in the warm milk (first remove the lemon peel!).
Put everything back on the stovetop fire and continue to stir until the cream is thick (about five minutes). Then cover with a sheet of film wrap and let it rest.
4. Now move on to the preparation of the short crust pastry.
In a bowl break three eggs, add 150 grams of sugar, 120 grams of sunflower oil and half a sachet of vanilla baking powder. Mix everything and then add 500 grams of flour, a little at a time until you can put the dough on a flat surface to start kneading it.
