The tender story of two canine friends ...

The news comes directly from the Ukraine, from Uzhgorod district in particular, where an injured dog had collapsed on the tracks of a railway line.

But what leaves you speechless is the behavior of a second dog who never left the side of his canine friend who was in mortal danger -- and never stopped trying to do something for the injured dog ...

One of the dogs was injured and unable to move away from the railway tracks but his companion stayed with him, despite the danger of being swept away by a train.

For the human witnesses of this dramatic scene, these were moments of real apprehension. Some men tried in vain to remove the dog from the railway tracks, but the animal made it impossible to get close without the risk of being bitten.

Suddenly, the worst happened! A train appeared in the distance and traveling at a high speed it reached the point where the two dogs were on the railway tracks ...

Fortunately, the two dogs survived the passage of the train, pressing their bodies as much as possible towards the ground --- in this way they were not hit by the train. 

Passers-by could not believe that the two dogs had survived or the uninjured dog's heroic behavior! Instead of running away, this dog had risked his life together with his friend by remaining immobile on the railway tracks as the train passed over them.

After the train had passed, the men set about rescuing the two dogs!

The two dogs were taken to the local dog pound where, fortunately, they spent only a few hours! This was because their owner was tracked down and came immediately to bring them home and take care of them.

Panda and Lucy, as they the two inseparable canine companions are called, have taught us a great lesson in loyalty, friendship, and self-sacrifice.
