There are many ways to build and recycle, but to upcycle aka create something completely new by using something old is perhaps one of the most fun and imaginative aspects of do-it-yourself (DIY) projects.

In this case, we show 15 examples of how the use of cinder blocks (cement blocks) has been reinvented -- from a garden staircase to a living room cabinet, from alternative plant holders to a colorful bench.
