The Penny Farthing bicycle is a type of velocipede (human-powered land vehicle with one or more wheels) built in the second half of the nineteenth century by James Starley, known as the father of the bicycle industry.
The video in question was filmed in 1928 and shows us the famous C.J. Bowtle and his fast and furious foot pedaling with which he was able to easily surpass his opponents in the Challenge Cup race in London!
It is very interesting to discover how our predecessors entertained themselves and with what passion they rode these curious velocipedes like the Penny Farthing bicycle.
