A flight attendant finds a note in the bathroom of the airplane and understands that a passenger is in grave danger!
If you work as a flight attendant, or anywhere that involves the uninterrupted passage of people, you can really see just about anything imaginable. Some people are nice, others are not at all, and often a flight attendant happens to witness situations that would make you tremble with compassion or anger.
In the latter category belongs the episode experienced by Sheila Fedrick, a flight attendant for the airline company Alaskan Airlines, during a trip to San Francisco. On that occasion, Sheila noticed something that her sixth sense told her was not right, and she was moved to investigate more deeply.
Passing close to passengers as she usually did, the woman noticed a curious couple, especially their clothing. A well-dressed man was sitting next to a 15-year-old girl wearing ragged and disordered clothing.
Sheila was also suspicious of their behavior. In fact, the man spoke for both of them as if he wanted to stop the girl from expressing herself. Furthermore, the latter avoided eye contact and had an expression certainly different from what an adolescent should have while on a pleasure trip on an airplane.
The flight attendant decided to make an attempt to confirm her suspicions. So, she took a sheet of paper and a pen, wrote down her phone number on it, and put them in the bathroom, trying in some way to attract the girl's attention. Incredibly, it worked.
A few moments later, the 15-year-old got up and went to the toilet and when Sheila went back into the bathroom to check, she saw that on the sheet of paper the girl had written a phrase that confirmed every doubt: "I need help".
Without hesitation, but without attracting attention, the flight attendant went to the pilot, informed him of the incident, and together they called the police. When they reached their destination, the security agents were there at the airport to arrest the passenger.
What Sheila Fedrick did, thanks to her intuition and her empathy, saved a person's life. In fact, the girl had indeed been the victim of a kidnapping, and who knows how it would have ended if someone had not intervened.
Sometime later, the young woman and her family, contacted the flight attendant, to thank her for the help received. Since then, despite the distance that separates them, they keep in touch regularly.
