A woman finds a dog close to death and ignored by everyone but after 3 months the dog is unrecognizable
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the name, Hercules? Certainly, the strength that distinguished this famous hero of Greek mythology.
The same strength that another Hercules had, less known but no less courageous, namely, a mongrel puppy that fought vigorously against an unhappy destiny, and who clung, nevertheless, to life.
The story begins when Pia, a woman we could call a savior angel or guardian angel, received a phone call from a friend who told her about a lost and battered dog wandering in the street.
When she arrived at the place and saw the dog, she could not believe her eyes.
How could anyone have not helped this poor dog before? Why had no one stopped to take an interest in that hapless creature?
The dog was literally reduced to skin and bones, it was even difficult for him to breathe, and it seemed that he might pass away at any moment. In short, the dog had given up.
But Pia was not of the same idea, so she gently picked up the dog, and took him to a veterinarian.
The vet was not very optimistic, but at the clinic, they decided to wait a few days, although they were almost certain that for this dog, the end would come soon. But the dog turned out to be more stubborn than expected!
In fact, the dog survived the first few days, and Pia took him home with her, feeding him and giving him water to drink every couple of hours, hoping that his stomach would return to working properly.
Twice - the woman confesses - she almost had the certainty that the animal was slipping away because its eyes were so dull and its body so weak that every breath seemed to be a huge effort.
But surprisingly, the young dog continued to fight! And after about two months, it took its first steps, showing great willpower and thereby, earning the name, Hercules.
Food, hygiene, and lots of love have given their beneficial effects and his hair has begun to grow back, at first slowly and then faster and faster.
Next, Hercules and Pia started walking in the open air, and the playful temperament of the animal has finally returned to manifesting itself after who knows how long!
After three or four months, the dog was practically unrecognizable, with thick fur covering his body and a new, very sweet expression in his eyes.
When the puppy was finally completely healed, it was time to put it up for adoption, but Pia did not feel that it was something she could do. This was because she had given so much love to that little creature, that they had by now become an inseparable family.
As a matter of fact, whenever Hercules looks into her eyes, he seems to say "thank you" for having taken him off the streets and for saving his life, after dozens of people had simply ignored him despite the fact that he was obviously dying.
All our kudos and admiration for Pia, who like so many other guardian angels take care of those in need. There is always a need for many more stories that end happily like this one!
