During the course of her career, de Havilland won two Academy Awards, one in 1947 for "To Each His Own" and another in 1950 for "The Heiress". She is one of the very few people still living who were witnesses of the golden age of Hollywood, the period of the colossal film studios when their actors and actresses were much more than famous people but real icons.

In fact, for the diva, de Havilland with her exceptional talent, nothing was missing from her life, including the historic rivalry with her sister, Joan Fontaine, that continued unabated during their highest levels of fame,  when both won the Oscar nomination for Best Actress in 1942. That particular Oscar for Best Actress was won by Joan for her performance in the film "Suspicion".

Among professional and personal success, adversities, and joys, Olivia has passed the century mark celebrating her 102 years of life with a special gift, the honor of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire conferred on her by the Queen herself. Many years ago, de Havilland retired to live in France and despite her years, her appearance has lost nothing in charm and charisma.

As a matter of fact, looking at her photos as a young woman and those that portray her now as an elderly lady, one cannot help but recognize the same sweet traits that have always distinguished her, and her gaze has remained practically identical.
