Did you know that our body burns calories even while we sleep? This is why sleeping is as necessary as physical exercise.

During the night, in fact, our body burns between 300 and 400 calories, which is the equivalent of the energy that the body burns with an hour of normal activity.

Experts have confirmed that good restorative sleep helps in losing weight, just as much as physical exercises.

To obtain results, it is advisable to adopt some habits that can accelerate our metabolism.

Sleep in a cool environment. It is important to go to sleep in an environment that is not too hot.

When we fall asleep in a cool environment or without pajamas, the cells responsible for thermoregulation are activated more to warm our body, thus burning calories.

Drinking grape juice. Grape juice helps burn calories thanks to a special substance called resveratrol. This substance converts "bad" white fat into beige fat.

When we sleep, our body uses beige fat to keep us warm, so drinking a glass of grape juice before going to bed will help us to get rid of excess fat. Obviously, it is good to choose fruit juices that are without added sugar.

Always go to sleep at the same time and always wake up at the same time.

Several studies have shown that having bad habits related to the time when you go to bed and wake up helps increase weight.

Normally, in the evening, melatonin indicates to our body when it is time to go to bed, and similarly, melatonin should help to activate beige fat cells that help burn calories.

Using your smartphone or tablet before falling asleep. The blue light emitted by our electronic devices is another reason why we cannot get a good night's sleep. It has been shown that the blue light emitted from our smartphones delays the production of melatonin, so it takes longer for us to fall asleep.

The consequence of this practice is that we often end up going to sleep very late and in the morning we find ourselves unquestionably overwhelmed by fatigue.

Eat a high protein snack. If you eat the right thing, it is not so bad to have a small snack before you go to bed. We recommend choosing protein-rich foods such as Greek yogurt, low-fat ricotta, lean turkey or peanut butter - they will increase metabolism and help your muscles grow.

Do some exercise. Exercise is the best way to get rid of stress and increase metabolism before going to bed. It has been shown that both cardiovascular and aerobic training exercises are efficient. However, a workout designed to increase endurance helps burn fat, therefore, swimming or lifting weights can be the best solution. These exercises are not too agitating, and at the same time, they stimulate the burning of calories even after we have fallen asleep.

Drinking herbal tea. Certain types of tea and herbal teas can help you lose weight overnight. We are obviously talking about natural herbal teas, which can actually improve our health in different ways and even make us more fit. Cinnamon, for example, fights inflammation and prevents waking up in the morning feeling bloated. Peppermint reduces appetite and helps avoid nighttime snacking. And chamomile improves digestion and relaxes the nerves.

Cultivating these habits can really help us stay thin but, always remember, they cannot work miracles! In fact, if we do not get some physical exercise and if we do not eat healthy food during the day, all our other efforts will be in vain.
