For parents with an autistic child, routine responsibilities can often be exceptionally difficult.

An example? Cutting your autistic child's hair.

As Meleri Thomas of the National Autistic Society states, "Autistic children often find that getting their hair cut is extremely distressing because of the sensory difficulties associated with this condition.

And she continues: "This means that when you cut an autistic child's hair, the feeling of your hands in their hair, and the hair landing on their face or body, or the noise of the scissors or clippers can cause anguish and distress."

Consequently, it takes a lot of patience in these contexts, as well as a lot of empathy, both from the parents of these children and from the barbers who cut their hair.

Well aware of this, a Blackpool hairdresser in Great Britain, named Donncha O'Connell, willingly and with great understanding cuts the hair of Evan O'Dwyer, an autistic teenage boy in his neighborhood area.

Like many autistic young people, Evan, 16, has his favorite place where he always feels safe, which is in his case, his mother's car!

In fact, Evan loves to eat and also gets dressed in his mother's car, so it was a real challenge for the barber,  Donncha to find a way to cut Evan's hair.

But then Donncha had an idea! He simply followed the autistic teenager into the back seat of his mother Deidre's car, and with patience and kindness he was able to cut Evan's hair since the teenage boy felt completely relaxed in his "favorite place".

There, in the back seat of his mom's car, Evan feels safe from any danger from the outside world and thanks to the professionalism and kind heart of this English barber—getting a haircut has turned into something that for Evan is now—even fun to do!

Congratulations to the professionalism and the great kindness of this very special barber!
