I should've hugged you a little longer the last time I saw you
"I should've held onto you a little longer and paid more attention to you the last time I saw you." This is a thought that's probably been on most of our minds lately. Especially when we think about the people we haven't seen since the Coronavirus outbreak occurred. Clearly, none of us could have predicted how quickly our lives would be affected by something so small and microscopic as Covid-19. With many governments extending the timeline of mandatory quarantine, it's hard to say how much longer we'll be stuck indoors. Let's just say it might be a while before we can kiss or hug anyone again.

For now, the Coronavuris has kept us separated from the people we love. Even if we can occasionally make exceptions, we still have to practice social distancing, maintaining at least 6 feet of distance from each other at all times. Nothing is the same as it used to be, and it's difficult to tell when things will go back to normal.
Most of us are probably thinking about our last encounter with our friends, family, or other people we care about. If only we could see those people face to face again, we might tell them how much they mean to us. We might also tell them how much they make a difference in our lives; so much so that they make even our most mundane days interesting. We might even hug them a little longer, kiss them more tenderly, or listen to them more intently. But for now, we can't.
One thing is for sure, though: quarantine is not going to last forever. Sooner or later, things will get back to normal and we'll be able to see our friends and loved ones in person again. With all this time spent apart, perhaps we'll love even more deeply. If the expression "absense makes the heart grow fonder," has any truth to it, most likely all of us will be having "heart to hearts" with our friends and family. Perhaps we'll even appreciate each other more, and commit to spending more quality time together. Perhaps we'll be more willing to lend a hand to those in need or offer to keep someone company who is feeling lonely (now that we know what it feels like, that is). For now, we can at least start by telling others how much they mean to us; all it takes is a phone call or a text message.
