A man abandons his wife and daughters because they have blue eyes: an absurd story of discrimination
Blue eyes are undoubtedly one of the most appreciated and fascinating physical characteristics that exist. We have often described the rarity and beauty of this feature. That's why it sure sounds strange to know that, for certain cultures, blue eyes are anything but to be proud of, to the point of being greeted with negativity and disappointment, and even incredible reactions like the one we are about to tell you of.
In fact, what would you think when reading that a man felt able to abandon his wife and daughters simply because they were born with beautiful blue eyes? We are not joking: this is what happened to Risiqot, a Nigerian woman who has suffered real discrimination because of her physical trait, which has been transmitted to her daughters.

Of course: meeting a dark-skinned, blue-eyed person is really unusual, there's no doubt about it. However, because of a rare genetic condition, this beautiful African woman has exactly this "mix" of colors. To her husband, however, Risiqot's eyes were never seen as a good thing, and were seen almost as a "problem", even a sort of "disease" to be hidden.
Risiqot's eyes, however, are perfectly healthy, so much so that she passed on this natural "gift" to her daughters as well. When the husband realized that his second daughter also had beautiful blue irises, however, he could not take anymore. The relationship between the spouses was changed, up to the point where they separated. Incredibly, the man decided to abandon his family.

This is clear discrimination, which came as the culmination of many humiliations suffered by the bride, such as having to undergo medical examinations to verify that her blue eyes were "normal". The young woman now lives with her daughters and her parents, and has certainly been hurt by this absurd story to say the least. The story was made known to the world by Alabi Rukayat Oyindamola, a university student motivated by the intention of making people reflect on situations that certainly deserve more attention, given that - in our day - we should never read things like this. All that remains is to wish Risiqot and her daughters a better life.
