The mother-in-law offers $10,000 to her son's girlfriend to get her to leave him: she accepts
They say that money doesn't buy happiness but, while this is true, the saying does not take into account the fact that, every now and then, a little more money can actually help in the long searh for happiness. A woman, who rightly wanted to remain anonymous, told in a forum about her curious love story and how her mother-in-law paid her ten thousand dollars to break up with her boyfriend. Love, of course, cannot be repaid with money, but the woman in question accepted her mother-in-law's offer. Although it might seem absurd, the woman had at least a couple of reasons on her side to be convinced to end her romance.

In her account, the woman wrote that she met her boyfriend in college and dated him for several years before he asked her to marry him. The girl, who is of Cuban descent, has always been aware that his family - a wealthy Asian and very traditional family - had never accepted their relationship. She knew very well that he didn't like his parents, who had always treated her with a certain disdain, not considering her suitable for their only child. She didn't care too much, because she thought she loved the guy and that was enough to make her grit her teeth and gloss over the situation. In any case, after the marriage proposal, things started to change within their relationship. The man seemed to become more possessive every day, informing the woman of how he would organize their days once they were married ("So I know always where you are, at all times"). In addition, other alarm bells, including alcoholic behavior and humiliating insults towards her, triggered the woman's final decision to leave the man for her own good.
While thoughts about her relationship troubled her, the mother-in-law thought it best to make her move and offer her a sum of money to get her to break up the relationship: $10,000! The woman, given the situation, accepted her mother-in-law's offer, agreeing that they would never reveal the arrangement to the man. That same evening she went home, packed her bags and broke up with her boyfriend. Since then, she no longer sees him and no longer answers his insistent calls, while his parents called her and thanked her for her choice. "Was I wrong to accept that money?" the woman asked, addressing readers on the online. In fact, many replied that she had done well, considering that she had planned to leave him anyway because of his behavior. The sum of money can be seen as a small "compensation" for all the offense she has had to suffer from the man's family over the years. The only real criticism that was leveled at her was: why accept so little?
