Waitress fired for not sharing her $4,400 tip with her colleagues (+VIDEO)
It is truly amazing how money manages to corrupt the human soul. Even when faced with the great news of receiving a $ 4,400 tip, waitress Ryan Brandt could not rejoice, as her employer forced her to share the tip with all the other workers. This practice was an unwritten rule at the waitress's workplace and failing to share the tip could get her fired - even though the tip had been from an businessman to thank her for her work dedication and kindness. Unfortunately, the waitress was fired when she refused to share the tip - which was a true injustice. Businessman Grant Wise responded to this vile act by launching a fundraiser to support the waitress's expenses and pay off her debts.
This story took place in a restaurant in Bentonville, Arkansas. A group of diners decided to reward the kindness and dedication of waitress Ryan Brandt, who was left speechless at getting a tip for over four thousand dollars. The customer, Grant Wise, had called the restaurant to make sure the waiters were not sharing tips. On confirmation of this, Wise wrote the tip check to reward Brandt's excellent service. The waitress was in tears when she found out that she was going home that day with all that money - not only because of the gesture itself, but because she had several student loans which she could now finally pay off. We can imagine her disappointment, then, when her employer wanted to force her to share the tip money with all of the restaurant workers. In the past, no one had ever done this - no waiter had ever shared their tips with others in the three years that Brandt had worked at the restaurant.
"They told me that I would have to give my money to my shift supervisor and that I would only take 20% home. It was devastating. I borrowed a significant amount of money to be able to keep up my studies. Most of these loans have been put temporarily on hold due to the pandemic, but they will reactivate soon and this is a harsh reality to face."
But the customer who given the waitress the generous tip found out what had happened. The waitress had been fired for "violating restaurant rules". This didn't make sense, because Brant had always been described as a sweet and gentle woman. So, the customer returned to the restaurant to get the money back. However, as the the money did not form part of the bill he had paid, he was unable to recover the tip. Leaving the restaurant and feeling responsible for indirectly causing a good person to be fired, he set up a fundraiser for the ex-waitress so that she can spend the Christmas holidays in peace while she looks for another job.
Fortunately the world is full of good people - good people who deserve a second chance!
