Puppy is adopted but the owner doesn't know it will grow into one of the biggest dogs in the world
When you adopt a dog it is because you want to have a friend with whom to share your life - a loyal and faithful companion who follows you wherever you go, and the animal's pedigree is of little or no importance. Very often, people adopt dogs from kennels, shelters or even take in those who have been abandoned in the streets. The only consideration of the owner must be about the space available in their home and whether or not they can offer the dog a place where it can be happy. Claudia Carter thought she had thought of everything, but she didn't imagine that the puppy she adopted would grow up to be the size of a pony!
Living in an apartment, Claudia had always want to adopt a small dog but she could not imagine that, on the contrary, the puppy she chose would turn out to be one of the largest dog breeds in the world. The puppy in question, in fact, is an Irish Wolfhound, or an Irish Greyhound. This is a dog breed that reaches extraordinarly large dimensions. An average adult male wolfhound reaches a weight of about 54 kg! For such a big dog, you need to provide a significant amount of space.
Claudia and her family live in Yorkshire, England, and 8 months after getting a puppy, they discovered that they had a 65 kg young dog on their hands! The vet warned the family that the dog would continue to grow and that it would probably weigh around eighty kilos when fully grown - almost a world record!
The puppy is called Arlo and he has a TikTok page of his own. Here, her mistress shares the dog's growing up process and all the funny skits with which she delights her family every day. In addition to Arlo, there are two other smaller dogs in the house - two Miniature Schnauzers.
Fortunately, the family decided to keep Arlo despite his size, even though the house, while being servicable, isn't really big enough to house a dog of Arlo's size. The family has great love for Arlo, however, and the dog returns their love in his own way. As you can see from the photos, Arlo is truly a gentle giant who doesn't even realize how big he is compared to his owner. He has no idea that he is so big as he still tries to sit on his owner's lap, just like he did when he was just a puppy!
