400 strangers attend the birthday of a 10-year-old girl who risked celebrating it alone (+ VIDEO)
No child should ever experience the terrible feeling of not being loved or realize that they have no friends. Everyone should have friends and not be afraid of celebrating their birthday on their own. Unfortunately, reality is much sadder - in some cases there are children who, for one reason or another, fail to establish social relationships at school and end up without friends and feeling very lonely.
Mackenzie Moretter was about to turn 10, but none of her classmates or acquaintances had responded to her invitation to come to her birthday party. Her mother, extremely saddened by this, did the impossible and, thanks to a post on Facebook, she set in motion organising an incredible show of solidarity: 400 strangers showed up at Mackenzie's party, making this an extremely memorable day!
Social media can be very useful for conveying messages and, using it in the right way, you can get great results. Mackenzie's mother, Jenny Moretter, wrote a Facebook post describing her daughter as loving, affectionate and eager to make friends. Mackenzie was born with Sotos Syndrome. Sotos syndrome is a genetic disorder, characterized by excessive growth before and after birth, a large, elongated (dolichocephalic) head, distinctive facial configuration, and a non-progressive neurological disorder with intellectual disability. Advanced bone age is present in approximately 75 to 85% of patients. It is also a condition that prevents Mackenzie from speaking fluently. The young girl had so many things to say and would have liked to have friends to spend time with, but at school she was always alone. And because of this, her mother made a desperate appeal - inviting anyone who wanted to to come to her daughter's birthday party the next day:
"You don't have to bring gifts and you don't have to stay long - just drop by and wish her Happy Birthday. Right now, only two girls from our family will be coming. She'd be so happy to see more girls show up at the party."
How can one remain unmoved in the face of such an appeal? Those who have children - and even those who don't - know how important socializing is for children and one can well understand the desperation of a mother who only wants happiness and joy for her daughter. Much to the surprise of little Mackenzie and her mother, about 400 people showed up the next day! Strangers, who were moved by the mother's plea for anyone to show up the next day at Mackenzie's party.
Adults and children showed up and took part in a big party with cake to eat, songs, games... and lots of gifts too! Despite being specifically told by Mackenzie's mother not to bring any gifts, the guests could not help but buy a little something for her. Among the various people who turned up, a girl dressed as the Frozen Disney character also showed up - a surprise that Mackenzie adored!
Mackenzie was delighted and was also moved emotionally. Her mother thanked all those who had come and supported her daughter and who, in this way, had made the young girl so happy.
It's impossible not to be moved by this happy birtday story!
