Man buys a scratch card that changes his life: "I'm not going back to work anymore because I won the lottery"
No doubt about it, sometimes life presents us with situations in which fate seems to play a hand, and we human beings are only "pawns" of its will - sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst. When fate plays its cards in our favor, then one can also speak of sheer luck. And it was sheer luck that smiled upon Ian Black, a 61-year-old man from Carlisle, Great Britain, who decided to follow his hunch and buy a national lottery scratch card...

Ian Black, a father of five and factory worker, had decided to stop by a shop to buy a newspaper after a very long night shift at his workplace. As there were road works right in front of the shop, Ian had almost not gone in and kept going, but then his hunch made him stop and go inside anyway. In addition to the morning newspaper he also bought a national lottery scratch card. When he scratched the ticket with a coin, he couldn't believe his eyes - he had won £ 2 million ($2.7 million dollars)!
Overwhelmed, Ian rushed home, woke up his wife Sandra and showed her the winning ticket. He then made a phone call to his work telling his boss that he would be absent that week, and that maybe, if things worked out right, he would probably never, ever go back to working at the factory: "I immediately phoned work and told them that I would not be going in that day, adding that in reality, I did not think I would be in all week. In fact, I said that maybe I would never be coming back to work again. My boss, understandably, seemed really shocked as soon as I told him about this. The feeling I got when I said 'I won the national lottery', was a moment and a sensation that I will never forget. I never thought I'd ever be able to say those words to anyone. You always dream about something like this happening - but it doesn't ever happen to people like me and Sandra. Well, now we are proof that it can happen! "

With the two million pounds winnings, the British couple will now pay for a vital surgery for their elderly dog, buy a piece of land in the countryside to build a house they have always dreamed of, and then finally, if anything remains, they will buy a Volvo for Sandra and a brand new 75-inch TV.
What about you? What would you do with all this money if you unexpectedly won this massive amount by scratching a national lottery ticket?
