Tent on balcony for rent in Zurich : € 500 euros ($542 dollars) "all inclusive"
Nowadays we think of any possible solution to save money, as the cost of living increases more and more. Some cities are more expensive than others, it is true, but it tends not to be easy to find accommodation for rent at a good price. And that's why a woman decided to place a bizarre ad in which she stated she is looking for roommates. Nothing strange so far, since living together with someone obviously involves a reduction in costs; what caused a sensation was the fact that the woman offered a tent on the balcony as a living space to rent, for the (not) modest sum of € 480 euros ($ 542 dollars). Her justification for this? Zurich is a very expensive city, where it is not easy to rent a room at a good price.

One woman (known simply as "Sandra") made headlines after posting an advertisement about her home in Zurich on the internet. Being a very expensive city, the woman decided to start sharing the apartment, in order to share the rent with someone else. What aroused suspicion, laughter and an uproar was the fact that in the ad, Sandra was renting a tent on her small balcony and without a roof. A somewhat spartan accommodation, to say the least, and for which the woman wanted to be paid with SF 500 Swiss francs, the equivalent of about € 480 euros (or approximately $ 542 dollars). Not exactly a modest amount to be able to camp outdoors all month on a terrace!
Beyond this bizarre offer, born out of the wish to make a saving on rent, there also seem to be some problematic issues that Sandra, perhaps, has not thought about. Although not strictly prohibited by law, it is not allowed to offer a camping tent as a living space. For living quarters, one has a right to lighting, to shelter from noise and fire and, as if that were not enough, a tent set up for such a prolonged time would also require the approval of the local building authorities.
Sandra said she understands how weird her ad seems, but she is not ready to quit her endeavour yet: "In this city, the situation for apartment seekers is very difficult. Finding an affordable room to rent is next to impossible. I realize that it could be a bit difficult to find a tenant in the middle of winter - especially since the balcony is not covered. If I don't find anyone until spring, that's fine with me." From her point of view, however, a student would be someone who would snap up her offer.
Rental costs are very high, but this camping tent placed on the balcony doesn't look very inviting. What do you think about this outlandish offer?
