Unemployed husband spends his wife's bonus on himself: she flies into a rage
The Covid-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented health crisis, but also an economic one. Many people have lost their jobs and have worked hard to find a new one. Others, on the other hand, have seen their work increase to record levels. In this story, a young married couple experienced both of these situations and found themselves arguing over how to spend a bonus one of them received. The woman is 27 years old and has a job that transitioned to smartworking during the lockdown period. The man is 28 year old, has a degree in finance, but is unemployed.

The young woman turned to Reddit to ask for advice on how to react to an argument she had with her husband. During the pandemic, the woman received a bonus from the company she works for (which produces medical equipment).
"I got a promotion, a small pay raise and a small bonus. I was really excited because I could finally buy a new handbag and a new pair of shoes. My friends' puppy had destroyed my handbag, but I shouldn't have put it on low stool in front of her kennel", explained the young woman.
When she informed her husband about the increase and the promotion, he seemed very happy: "He started talking about how he could now renovate his gaming area and buy new devices, as he was tired of the ones he had. I was stunned. I fell silent because I could not believe what he was saying. Eventually he went out and bought himself a new computer, a gaming chair and a mouse. He basically spent my bonus," she said.
The woman was very upset by her husband's attitude, so a heated argument broke out and he accused her of being selfish and "spoiled" because she wanted to spend her bonus on a handbag. "I called him ungrateful and asked him why he deserved a new computer paid for with my bonus. He got quiet and later left the home, saying he would stay with his family (who are an hour's drive away)", continued the woman.
Since he left, the husband has sent his wife a number of messages stating that "he did not feel supported at home" and that - since she is his wife - "he can buy what he wants whenever he wants" and that "he shouldn't feel at fault because he has no income at the moment". She replied that it is not true, and she is supporting hime. The husband later proposed that he will buy her a handbag "as soon as they get an extra source of income".
"All his friends and family think that I have overreacted," explained the woman, asking Reddit followers if she was in the wrong. The Reddit community has come out in support of the woman. What is your opinion?
