It is said that love conquers all and in fact, there are numerous stories that feature people who are so in love that they can overcome the most insurmountable obstacles, such as being distant from their loved ones. How many couples love each other very much, but live in different cities? How many of these couples have heard "it won't last" but actually got married and lived happily ever after?

This must have been the belief of Daniel Barrera, a young man who decided to go on an adventure to meet the person he believed was the love of his life. Let's see what happened:

The young man from Tenerife had a three-year, online relationship with his "soul mate", who lived in the United States, (Orlando, Miami, to be precise). Daniel couldn't wait anymore, so he packed his bags, booked a flight and traveled 6,000 kilometers (3,700 miles) to meet the woman. To his great surprise, when he landed at the airport and waited for his girlfriend to arrive, he got a nasty shock. The happiness and joy of meeting the love of his life for the first time quickly disappeared when he realized she wasn't going to show up.

"She didn't show up," the young man explained in a video shared on TikTok. Daniel got in touch with the woman to find out what had happened, but soon realized that not only had his messages to her not been answered, but she had also blocked him. He couldn't contact her or on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or anywhere else.

The video went viral within a few hours and viewers expressed their solidarity with the young man, leaving him many messages of support. After the publication of the video and the dozens of questions left in the comments to find out more about this incident, the young man decided to answer some of them: "I lost thousands of euros, three years of my life and this woman toyed with my mental health," explained the young man. But despite this, he didn't completely lose heart:" Well, at least I got to go to Disney World, I saw a crocodile and I did some shopping".

Unfortunately, this situation is very common nowadays and usually these people are called "catfish": they are scammers who exploit people by luring them using a fake profile. They usually ask for money for a variety of reasons and are completely focused on the victim. When the latter decides to try to meet up, however, the catfish will suddenly (and completely) disappear from social networks, without leaving a trace.

Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation?
