Woman asks for a vegan meal while in flight: they bring her a bottle of water and an empty napkin
There are people who, by necessity or by choice, follow a strict diet that includes certain foods and excludes others. These habits can be followed both at home and elsewhere. In many cases restaurants can satisfy almost any special food request. Unfortunately, this was not the case with the woman we want to tell you about here.
On a flight home, she asked for vegan food on board the plane, but she was not at all satisfied with what she got. Here is her story:
Miriam Porter is a Canadian journalist and writer who shared her experience about an airline she took from Frankfurt to Toronto. In the clip posted on TikTok, the woman said she was vegan and had asked the airline for a vegan meal in advance. The journey was 10 hours and, as required by regulation, each passenger would be served two meals: she didn't get anything.
After having repeatedly stated that she was vegan, the stewards replied that they did not have any vegan food on board. In the video we see Miriam with a bewildered expression staring at her first meal: a bottle of water. Later, we see her looking at her second "meal": an empty napkin.
Was this a joke? Probably so, but it was in very bad taste. From the comments posted to her video, it seems that the airline was not a stranger to this problem. As specified by the stewards, the meals offered included vegetarian meals, but not any vegan ones. Fortunately, however, a steward noticed that the woman had not eaten anything and worked hard to get her a little something. "I have to thank a steward for bringing me a fruit and a cereal bar," said the woman.
The video, shared on social media, got a high number of views and many comments from those who, like her, have found it difficult to meet their food needs in public environments. Also, for Miriam, this was not the first time this had happened. In other situations, she had brought her meals herself (but not this time).
Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation?
