Elderly man can't pay the fees for his retirement home: he's kicked out and left in the street
Elderly people represent our past and hand down their knowledge and experience from generation to generation. Fathers, mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers take care of us when we are young and are the pillars on which our lives are built. For this reason, it is important to take care of them when they are elderly and can no longer provide for themselves.
There are situations, however, where doing this is complicated and external assistance is called in. For example, one may have to place an elderly loved one in a retirement/rest home. It's too bad then, that this is not always the best choice - and the story we are about to tell you about here is proof of this.

Carlos Julio Vivas is a 96-year-old man who was taken to an elderly care facility where it was expected he would receive care and attention. For a while, everything went well. But then, something unexpected happened that changed everything.
Due to various problems, Carlos' family members were not able to pay the facility's monthly fees. As a result, the facility (in Soacha, Colombia) evicted Carlos and he ended up in the street. A photo of a very sad Carlos sitting all alone in a chair on a street went viral on the web.

The decision to evict Carlos caused an uproar. The elderly man's ex-daughter-in-law, Marisol Barrios, explained what happened: "I want to publicly denounce the Los Angeles de Dios foundation. My father-in-law was hospitalized in the facility for some time, but for the last 3 months, the family was not able to pay the fees. Because of this, they have put him out on the street."
The situation caused such a stir that the town's mayor launched an investigation into the matter. According to the report, Carlos was not abandoned in the street and his family had been informed to come and get him due to non-payment.
Whatever the truth is, it is important to remember that the elderly are our roots and, when they are in need, we must do everything possible to help them.
