86-year-old woman bought a lottery ticket and promised the clerk a cut if she won
Most of us would like to win the lottery and settle down for life, but only a few manage to make this dream come true. Despite the long odds, however, there are some people who don't give up and try day after day to win, while others just participate occasionally for fun.
One of these is the woman we want to tell you about, who, encouraged by a convenience store clerk where she was shopping, decided to buy some lottery tickets and give it a try. Not knowing how the system worked, the woman entrusted herself to the young man and promised him that in case of a win, they would share the "booty".
One day, Marion Forrest was out shopping in New York and walked into a convenience store. Here, in addition to buying what she needed, she got chatting with one of the clerks, Walter. It was the latter who encouraged Marion to buy a lottery ticket to try her luck. Walter explained how the system worked and told her that the jackpot was $500,000. Following his encouragement, Marion decided to try her luck.
"Okay, if I win, I'll share the winnings with you," said Marion to Walter as she left the shop. A few days later, the draw took place and Marion won a prize. Unfortunately, the amount she won was much lower than the $500,000, but she was still happy with what she got. And if you think she had forgotten the promise she made, you would be wrong.
Marion, remembered her promise and went back to the shop to see Walter. The moment was captured on video by Heidi, Marion's granddaughter and was posted to her social media accounts. In the clip, we see Marion entering the shop holding two balloons and approaching the cash register where Walter was working. "You won?" he asks, and Marion says yes. Their joy is clear and the other customers break out in cheers and applause for the lucky couple.
Marion had won $300 - not much compared to the jackpot - but she kept her promise and that was the main thing. How many people would have done what Marion did? At the end of the day, Marion showed herself to be a woman of her word.
A promise is a promise and must always be kept, even if it is a small one. What matters is not disappointing others and Marion certainly didn't do this. Well done, Marion!
