Single mother of four is in financial difficulty: a "Secret Santa" helps her out

Christmas should be a magical time, spent as a family exchanging gifts and eating good food. Unfortunately, not everyone can celebrate like this. But in the United States, there is one person who decided to help his fellow citizens in need.

This "Secret Santa" is in fact a good Samaritan from eastern Idaho whose mission it is to share his wealth with deserving people. Young Sierra and her 4 children are just one of the families touched by the kindness of this generous benefactor.

Nate Eaton, director of the East Idaho News, is the public face of the "Secret Santa" operation and is the only one who knows the true identity of the actual benefactor. This time, Sierra - a young mother of four - was chosen because she had recently become a widow.

Sierra's husband, William, passed away after suffering a sudden heart attack whilst at the pool. Sierra found herself alone and raising four young children: her eldest is only 12 years old.

In a clip posted to YouTube, Nate and two of his collegues are shown knocking on Sierra's door and asking how she was doing: "We are surviving. We are carrying on day by day. But we are fine, I guess," she says, tearfully. Nate, visibly moved, then says to Sierra: "We want to give you this gift from an anonymous donor who has heard you might need some help."

In the clip, Nate is seen giving Sierra a $5,000 voucher to spend at Ashley's Furniture, an American furniture chain that sells home products.

Sierra responds by saying how lucky and serendipitous this donation is: her husband was working on the basement when he died and she now needed help to finish the job. She said that she will now use the voucher to get the work finished.

Nate's crew also had a gift for Sierra's youngest child. The little girl opened the gift and then gave it to her mom: it was a check for $20,000! Seeing this, Sierra was overcome with emotion and gratefully thanked everyone. Parting ways, Nate hugged Sierra and said: "Good luck, Sierra. We hope the basement gets finished and that your kids will enjoy it. Have a great future life."
