At 62, she wears the same clothes her 23-year-old daughter does: "Don't be ashamed of your age"
As you grow older, it is difficult to retain your confidence in your physical appearance. After the age of fifty, we tend to "surrender" to the fact that we are getting old and often make the mistake of abandoning wanting to dress in a glamorous way.
But there are some people who don't think this way: one example is Gym Tan, a 62-year-old woman who moved from Hong Kong to California seven years ago. Gym has 30 years of experience working in the high-end fashion industry and started working as a consultant in the United States - but this work was not fulfilling enough for her. Here is her story:

"My love for high-end fashion seemed out of place in casual California, where the standard outfits most people choose to wear is leggings, a sweatshirt, and a windbreaker," Gym said. One day, Gym's daughter Mya - who is 23 and works as a content creator for a social media company in New York - visited her mother and saw she was not happy with her work. So, Mya suggested that she go online to expound her views about high-end fashion.
"At first, the idea of being on social media as a 62-year-old female was a little daunting, but I took my daughter's advice and treated it as a hobby, not really expecting it to go anywhere. Within three weeks, I had around 10,000 followers. Last year, I started creating content full-time and now have a following of 140,000 people,” said Gym.
Gym's videos wer very successful and got millions of views. There were many users who complimented her on her grace, her looks and her views on fashion.
Inspired by the fact that even older women can look fabulous in "youthful" clothes, Gym decided to share a series of videos taken with her daughter in which they both wear similar outfits to prove that style has no age limit: "I've shared videos of both of us wearing swimsuits or skimpy dresses and the clips have received a very positive response on social media. Nobody tells me I shouldn't dress like this at my age and this has given me confidence," Gym said.
The elegant influencer explained that she wants to be an inspiration to women her age: "I think many women start to feel invisible as they get older because of society's beauty standards and all the fashion magazines telling us that we should look a certain way. I myself started to feel insecure as I approached 50, because I was afraid of being looked at differently. Showing people on social media that I have regained so much confidence in my 60s, I think is a really powerful message,” she said. We couldn't agree more!
