If we think of a romantic and relaxing atmosphere, probably a candlelit dinner by the sea is what comes to mind. However, if instead of just a beach, we are inside an ancient grotto (sea cave) that overlooks a breathtaking cove . . . then we are really on another level!
This is the setting offered by the beautiful Grotta Palazzese in Polignano a Mare (Apulia), which houses a hotel and restaurant of the same name.
From May to October you can enjoy a vacation or a simple meal lulled by the continuous waves that hit the rock wall, and marvel at the colors of the sea at all times of the day.
(N. B. We are presenting this facility only because we like its uniqueness. We have no commercial agreement with its owners.)
The grotto (sea cave) is located in Polignano a Mare, a town located on the Adriatic coast of Puglia, in southern Italy.

The area surrounding the restaurant was once a Greek colony, but it has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age.
Since the 1700s, noble families were aware of the uniqueness of this grotto and went there to organize receptions and other events.
During both the day and night, this amazing grotto offers an incredible atmosphere!

It is obviously one of the most romantic places that exist!
The hotel management tries to maintain an elegant ambiance by inviting men not to wear shorts or flip flops.

The illumination is soft and gentle and the furnishings are light-colored, so as not to disturb the magic of the natural structure.
Much of the village of Polignano a Mare is built on the rocks overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
