Women from around the world made a "simple" crochet blanket; the end result was ... a Guinness World Record!

There are some world records that are rather strange, but still spectacular! In India, more than 2,000 women -- mostly Indian but participation was not lacking from other places around the world --  all came together and in six months they made the largest crochet blanket in the world! This huge blanket consisted of many small finished crocheted squares that were then joined together.

The entire blanket covered an area of about 11,000 square meters which is roughly the equivalent of one and a half football fields! After the Guinness World Record had been confirmed and awarded, the enormous crochet blanket was taken apart and donated to charity! So far, more than 8000 blankets have been delivered to the poor and needy.
