This extraordinary machine called a Barrier Transfer Machine (BTM) or Road Zipper truck, is a true revolution in the field of road safety (both for motorists and for road construction workers) and can be seen here repositioning the new Moveable Median Barrier (MMB) on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California.

The Road Zipper truck's usefulness lies in being able to quickly and easily move the concrete barriers that separate the highway lanes allowing for a more efficient management of traffic. The powerful machine is able to move the barrier segments (weighing 700 kg each) very quickly thereby avoiding exposing the workers to unnecessary risks.
