Discover ten tea bag hacks!
A cup of hot tea is a great way to relieve symptoms of flu, colds, or even to aid digestion. The benefits of this drink, however, go even further.
In fact, by saving your used tea bags, you can reuse them on other occasions. For example, you can soothe a sunburn or fertilize the roses in your garden.
Do you want to know all the amazing ways tea bags can be used? Well, here they are!
1. Relieve sunburn
Black tea contains tannic acid, known to have astringent and soothing properties. A hot tea bag placed on sunburned skin can calm and reduce the burning sensation, which is the first step towards healing a sunburn.
2. Rejuvenate tired eyes
Tannins in black tea have a calming and soothing effect on puffy and tired eyes. The next time you prepare a hot tea put the tea bags in a container in the refrigerator for a maximum of two days. In the morning, apply the cold tea bags and you will notice a quick improvement of your eyes.
3. Household burns
The same tannins that act on puffy eyes are also a great remedy for minor household burns. As for the previous hack, just apply a cold tea bag that has been in the refrigerator for no more than two days.
4. Treatment for your hair
Black tea acts on the hair by controlling dandruff and giving hair a healthy shine. Try to massage your scalp with a cup of tea of your favorite flavor, leaving it in your hair for at least one hour from the time of preparation.
5. Warts treatment
The oxidizing agents in tea act by stopping the growth of warts. Apply a cooled tea bag over the wart, and hold it in place with a tight bandage. After 15 minutes remove the bandage and replace the tea bag with a second new one, and keep it in place for another 15 minutes. Repeat the process for a couple of days, and you will see the wart disappear.
6. Eliminate shoe odor
When you wear a pair of shoes all day, it is normal that they can have an unpleasant odor. To eliminate any unpleasant odor, just put a tea bag in your shoe, this time a dry tea bag; not a used wet one! The unpleasant odor will be absorbed by the dry tea bag.
7. Fertilize your plants
The tannic acid content in tea leaves lowers the pH level of the soil. In fact, soil with a high level of acid means that it is not a very hospitable place for the propagation of fungus and it allows for a more luxuriant growth of some plants, such as roses. During the period of pruning, put a tea bag into the ground, next to the rose plants. The roses will be much more lush!
8. Remove tough and caked on food from dishes
Removing caked-on food from pots, pans and trays can be difficult and most of all tedious. Just let the dishes soak in hot water together with a tea bag. The next day, the dirt will wash away with just one wipe with a sponge.
9. Polishing mirrors
For shiny mirrors, let some tea bags steep in water, then dip a cloth in the cooled tea. Pass the cloth over the mirror and see the difference!
10. Removing odors from your hands
Handling garlic, onion, or other pungent foods can mean that you can still have unpleasant odors on your fingers even after washing your hands several times. The solution is to wash them with a tea bag.
