Here is why you should NEVER clean your ears with a cotton swab!

There are some habits that we learn during our childhood that we continue as adults, not knowing that they are potentially harmful. Among them, is the common, although ill-advised practice of cleaning the ear canal with a cotton swab (Q-Tip).

As you can see in the video, all that a cotton swab does is push earwax further down into the ear canal, limiting the ability of the eardrum to vibrate properly. 

Furthermore, few people know that earwax is a substance that is produced naturally by the body to protect the ear from insects, fungi, and other materials that can enter or proliferate inside the ear canal.

In any case, as the expert in the video concluded, patients should never take earwax out of their ears themselves.
