A herd of almost beached whales --- timely human intervention is thrilling!

Swimmers at a beach in Lanzarote (Spain), one of the Canary islands off the coast of West Africa, were quietly bathing when a herd of disoriented pilot whales began approaching the coast until several whales were about to inadvertently beach themselves.
At that point, in the face of an obvious emergency, all the people present intervened in the only way that they could, which was by creating a sort of human chain that stopped the whales from reaching the beach while gently and slowly pushing the whales back toward the sea.
In the end, they succeeded in accomplishing this difficult task!
